New fabrics:  Lots of great Christmas fabrics and quilts on display. Debbie Beaves new line from RJR “Violetta” is here and it is beautiful and I know it will go fast!  We sold out of the “Violetta” charm packs in 1 week!

Halloween fabrics are coming in and we expect the fall to start coming in this month.  Next month we are expecting the new “Dear Jane” line of fabrics as well.
Christmas Ornaments:  For the first time at SunFlower Quilts we are able to have a Christmas tree, but we need help decorating the tree with ornaments.  We are asking volunteers to take an ornament donation tag that is now hanging on our tree, make a handmade ornament (it has to be handmade)  bring the tag filled out and hang the ornament you have made on the tree. Give us the filled out donation tag and you will be eligible for a drawing. We will have the drawing on Nov. 26th, 2008 where you have the chance to win a $50 gift certificate, a $10 gift certificate from the shop or a bundle of Christmas fat quarters. One ornament per donation tag please.  On December 1st all the ornaments will be donated to The Cottage of Spring Branch, an Alzheimer residence care facility to decorate their Christmas tree!  Thank you so much for helping spread the holiday cheer to Alzheimer patients!

That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the 1st Tuesday September 2nd from 10am – noon.  Please get your quilts needed by Christmas to Donna ASAP as her cut off deadline for Christmas delivery is mid Oct.! You can bring your tops for Donna to quilt or pick up a quilt that is ready from Donna, or just come for the fun show and tell of all the beautiful quilts!  Donna does a great job!

New Block of the Month has started!  We just started our new BOM called Garden Friends, (check it out on the web site) and learn all the details including cost etc. You can sign up for the new BOM through the web site or come in the shop! It looks so much better in person! You are going to love it and it was so much fun to make!

Ovarian cancer awareness and research update:  We want to thank everyone for all of the Ovarian blocks that are pouring in! The blocks are beautiful and will touch so many lives!  Come by the shop and see your block hanging!  We are asking our customers to please make at least 1 – 12 ½” unfinished block and bring or mail to the shop by December 31st. We have block kits available for only $3.50 with suggested block patterns.  We will then have a joint sew in at our church January 18th (Sunday) 2009 from 2-8pm and put all the blocks into quilt tops.  Then we will ask for volunteers to quilt and bind them and turn in the completed quilts to the shop or MD Anderson by July 15th 2009.  The quilts will then be auctioned online in October 2009.  Lets see how much money we can all raise for MD Anderson again with the quilts!  For more info you can contact us or MD Anderson at www.mdanderson.org/departments/ovarianquilt.  Last Spring’s online auction that MD Anderson sponsored was a wonderful success!!  The quilts and all of the wonderful hands and creative juices that made them made $11,440!  Let’s see if we can raise $22,000 for next year’s auction!  I know we can do it. All proceeds go for Ovarian Cancer Research.

Calling all quilt designers: The Wild Wild West Shop Hop is having a quilt design contest for the June 2009 shop hop quilt.  Go to our web site for more details!

One Yard Hugs:  It’s that time of year again to start making “One Yard Hugs” for the preemie babies born at local hospitals!  All you have to do is take 1 yard of flannel, cut off the selvages and finish the raw edge.  Last year all the Wonderful volunteers donated over 500 “One Yard Hugs” WOW!  Lets see how many we can donate this year!  Call, come by the shop or email with questions.

In store specials:  Come by the shop for some specially selected fabrics on sale!   Don’t forget Thimbleberries Club members and Charm School members get special discounts too!

We will be closed Monday September 1, 2008 for the Labor Day Holiday.  We hope everyone has a blessed holiday!

Blessings,

Logan and Jill
