SunFlower Quilts May 2009 Newsletter
*May 2009 is here and we will be starting our quilt sample giveaway this month (see details below) in celebration of our 5th year anniversary! We want to thank all of you for your continued support during these challenging times. It seems most everyone is feeling some effects of the stressed economics in our lives today. We have confidence that with prayers and support from the warm and caring hearts of our wonderful customers we will all continue to grow and look forward to many more years sharing our love of quilting and sewing. Don’t forget to look at your newsletter at the beginning of each month for a special anniversary coupon to use during the specified month! Each month will be a different anniversary coupon so be sure and check your newsletter. You must present your coupon in order to get the special of the month. May is a month which celebrates Mother’s Day and Graduations. We ask for blessings on all our friends and families who are seeing our young ones grow up and take another step forward in their young lives. How rewarding to be able to make handmade gifts and quilts to give to our Mothers and Graduates. Come on by and visit and see new fabrics coming in for Spring and Summer. Believe it or not Christmas fabrics will start arriving at the end of May!
*LOOK, UP IN THE SKY, IT’S A BIRD, IT’S A PLANE, NO IT’S CHASE WITH HIS QUILTED CAPE OR, it could be your child or grandchild with a fun imagination for ways to love their quilt! We are pleased to announce that the author of Just a Quilt? Dalen Keys will be in our shop on May 22, 2009 for a special book signing! His new book Just a Quilt? Is a wonderfully written and illustrated children’s book! He will be here Friday May 22, 2009 from 11am -3pm. Please mark your calendars and come by to meet him. His new book is a delight! You can go to his web site to learn more about him at www.dalenkeys.com . If you would like to make sure you get a copy of this wonderful book we are now taking pre-paid orders. The book is $16 and at this time we are only taking cash payments.
* Special 5th Year Anniversary Announcement! Beginning May 4, 2009 you will have an opportunity to win up to 5 SunFlower Quilts quilt samples. Come see them on display now! Here is how it works:
For 5 consecutive weeks starting May 4th, for every $10 of merchandise (excluding sales tax, gift certificates, custom quilts and class fees) that you purchase you will receive a ticket that may be drawn on the following Saturday at 4pm (you do not have to be present to win). For example if you purchase $10 in merchandise before tax you will receive 1 ticket. If you purchase $35 before tax you will receive 3 tickets and so on. The 5 quilt samples will be on display at the shop and online on our web site in mid April. After the drawing on Saturday we will discard the remaining tickets from the previous week and new opportunities for winning the next quilt will begin at 10am Monday for the following Saturday drawing. We will continue for 5 consecutive Saturdays! That means you could possibly WIN 5 quilt samples! The 5 Saturdays are May 9; May 16; May 23; May 30; and our BIG anniversary celebration Saturday June 6th! We are looking forward to our 5th year in being blessed to serve your quilting and sewing needs! We certainly appreciate your loyalty and the many friendships as customers and know that we could not have succeeded without YOU!
* That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the first Tuesday May 5th from 10 am – 12:00 noon!. Her husband Bill is doing much better! You can bring your tops for Donna to quilt or pick up a quilt that is ready from Donna, or just come for the fun show and tell of all the beautiful quilts! Donna does a great job!
* Idea Saturday: Our next “Idea Saturday” will be Saturday May 16, 2009 at 9am sharp! Come by and we will share at least 5 ideas and have free instructions for each idea! We will have refreshments as well! You can get the instructions free at 9am; if we have any “Idea Saturday” booklets left they will be $5.
* SunFlower Quilts Mystery Quilt Club meetings in May are Sunday May 3, 2009 from 2-3pm
or Thursday May 14, 2009 from 6-7pm.
* SunFlower Quilts Civil War Quilt Club will meet the 1st Saturday May 2, 2009 from 4:30 -7:30pm.
*Our next Charm School is Saturday June 20th at 9am sharp! Hint: this month’s charm quilt requires absolutely NO cutting. If you pre pay by June 13th you receive 5% off. If you don’t pre pay for the Charm School Project Pack we can’t guarantee there will be one left for you as we have a limited amount of extra packs. You can get all the info and register for Charm School on the web site or come by the shop to register! You can see April’s charm quilt on the home page of our web site. The June project Charm pack will contain 169 charm squares and cost $43.99. Remember if you pre pay your cost for the Charm pack it will be $41.49 with your 5% discount, and you will be guaranteed to get the charms. There is also a registration fee of $5 plus tax to receive the pattern. Get ready to learn lots about using 5” Charm squares! We are going to have sew much fun! Let us know if you have any questions. It’s fun to be “Charming” in 2009.
* Block of the Month We will start our new BOM on June 15th, it is a Texas themed BOM. You can see the quilt hanging in the shop and begin signing up on May 6th as there are limited kits available. We know you will want to participate because of course it is Texas!
* The Wild Wild West Shop Hop dates have been set for Thursday June 18th –Sunday June 21st! There are 11 shops this year and lots of fun to be had.
* New fabrics: Lots of new Moda fabrics have come in and as always they are beautiful! Water Garden; Sorbet; Northern Solitude; Legacy; Sultry; Soiree; Collections Traditions; Udder Cowboy; and Swanky. 2 new children’s lines from Clothworks, one is called “Let’s Race” a cute race car fabric line and “Funny Farm” has tractors and farm animals! * Ovarian cancer awareness and research update: We still need your HELP; we have 3 tops here at the shop that needs to be quilted! We need volunteers to quilt. If you can just take one please let us know. We have volunteers to do the binding! Please contact us and let’s work together to get theses done for MD Anderson! We have until July 2009 to have them done.
* Classes are listed on the classes page of the web site (www.SunFlower-Quilts.com/Classes.htm) check them out, there are some great classes. We will add more classes as they become available.
