* October sure came fast! Last week started and then I realized it was October!! So I want to apologize for getting the newsletter out late this month! On a good note Quilt Festival is this month and remember it is earlier this year October 14 – 18. 2009. We have some beautiful new fabrics that just came in last week, as well as new kits, books and patterns!
* That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the first Tuesday October 6, 2009 from 10 am – 12:00 noon! You can bring your tops for Donna to quilt or pick up a quilt that is ready from Donna, or just come for the fun show and tell of all the beautiful quilts! Donna does a great job!
Looking for something new? We have it, and it’s called Show ‘N’ Tell Saturday! On October 10, 2009 at 10am sharp we will have our Free Show ‘N’ Tell Saturdays. Remember, back in school when everyone would bring their favorite things to show the class? Well, that’s basically what Show ‘N’ Tell Saturday is. As a “teller”, bring a project to show; or as a listener, come for some great inspiration! If you bring a project to show, we’ll ev en give you a gift for taking your time to share with us. Sign up soon, we limit Show and Tell Saturday to 4 Tellers and there are 2 spots left for October! Come by the shop for all the details! * Our Annual Fat ¼ Sale is this Saturday October 10, 2009 from 9am - 4pm, one day only! All single fat ¼”s (bundles and Jump Start packs not included) will be $1.25! You must purchase a minimum of 10 fat ¼’s to get the $1.25 price.
* Classes: Check out our classes on the classes page of our web site, we just listed several new classes! Sign up for our many Basic classes too and remember we also offer private classes, just ask and we can teach you just about anything one on one!
* Book Club The next Book Club meeting is the 4th Tuesday October 27th at 10am sharp OR the 4th Saturday October 24th at 10am or 2pm sharp!
* Ovarian Cancer Quilt Auction with MD Anderson will be October 14-28, 2009. The auction lasts for 2 weeks and some of the quilts will be hanging at Quilt Festival this year! How exciting, go to www.mdanderson.org/ovarianquilt for more info and to make a bid in October! A great big THANK YOU to all who have helped with this wonderful project! There is a beautiful donated Ovarian Cancer quilt top that has been lost! Please help us locate the top! See the photo below of the quilt top. If you have taken the quilt to finish and did not get it done please return the quilt ASAP. We know things get hectic and we need to try to find the quilt and have it finished for the 2011 auction! The owner who took her time and love to make it wants to make sure it gets in the next auction. More info coming soon for the 2011 auction!

* SunFlower Quilts Mystery Quilt Club meetings in October are Sunday October 11, 2009 from 2-3pm or Thursday October 8, 2009 from 6-7pm.
* Candy Cane Shop Hop dates are December 3-6, 2009. What a great way to start the holiday month with a shop hop! Each shop will give FREE instructions for a Christmas ornament, there are great prizes. Come by the shop for more info!

* Block of the Month Stars Across Texas October block kits will be ready October 15th!
* The Greater Houston Shop Hop dates are March 19, 20, 26 and 27, 2010. There will be 20 shops participating and we are very excited to be a part of this wonderful shop hop. Check out The Greater Houston Shop Hop web site at www.houstonshophop.com .
Do you need a Jump Start?
Just a little kick start to get that project going? Here’s how Sunflower Quilts can help you. It’s called our Jump Start Corner, and it’s coming this month. So, what is a Jump Start, and how does it work? Easy. . . First, choose a pattern or book from the variety available in the Jump Start Corner. Second, choose your fabrics from our JUMP START fabric packs (coordinated fabric bundles pre-selected specifically for these projects). And last, customize your project by selecting the finishing fabrics (i.e. sashing, border, background, binding, and backing). With our customers in mind., we have chosen Jump Start projects that are user friendly (most have been tested by the staff). Sometimes we will even give you a Sunflower Quilts exclusive tip sheet. These projects will vary by month so check the Jump Start corner often.
Remember, it’s easy to get started with a Jump Start. . .just CHOOSE your pattern or book, SELECT your JUMP START fabric pack, CUSTOMIZE, and SEW!
